About the Artist Born and raised in Philadelphia, Jimmy Shubert proudly bears the marks of his upbringing from a large Irish Catholic family of six brothers. Since Jimmy was the middle child, most of his childhood days were spent wearing "blood-stained" hand-me downs from his elder brothers. He attended the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts, majoring in Drama. It was from those experiences in acting class that Jimmy knew he wanted to be an actor. Always the class clown and performer, Jimmy would perform magic tricks for his friends and family. By the age of 15, he had become an accomplished, professional magician. He later channeled all that energy into stand-up comedy. Jimmy started performing in comedy clubs in the early 1980's around the Philly area. He later moved to Los Angeles and started working at the Comedy Store, performing and writing material for acts like Yakov Smirnoff, Jimmy Walker and Louie Anderson. It was the Comedy Store where he later met Sam Kinison and they instantly became friends after Jimmy drove his motorcycle onto the Comedy Store stage and proclaimed to the startled Kinison, "Last call. By the way, your ride is here." Kinison liked Shubert's cockeyed chutzpah and included him as one of the "Outlaws of Comedy" which he toured for several years, playing the major casinos in Las Vegas and other venues like the Universal Amphitheater in front of audiences as large as 6,000 people. Jimmy has also been well recognized from three appearances at the Montreal Comedy Festival from 1995-1998. Most recently, Jimmy's TV credits have ranged from appearing on ABC, WB and NBC with his performances on "ANGEL," "RUDE AWAKENINGS" and "ONCE AND AGAIN." He also had a recurring role on "ER." Jimmy had a development deal at 20th TV/ FOX from 1997-1998 where he helped develop a pilot idea for him to star in. You may also remember seeing Jimmy in his large supporting role in Columbia Pictures' "GO!", directed by Doug Liman (SWINGERS).
