"Best of Spector Sound" was released in the Japanese market in 1985, making it one of the earliest collections of Phil Spector's Wall of Sound to be issued on CD anywhere in the world. The 16 selections feature some of the producer's most popular hits, including "He's a Rebel," "Uptown," and "Da Doo Ron Ron" from the Crystals, two tracks from Darlene Love, a trio of hits from Bob B. Soxx and The Blue Jeans, and five songs by the Ronettes. Most of the CD features mono masters, although it's worth noting that four of the five tracks by the Ronettes are the very rare stereo mixes, making this CD the only official source of those songs on compact disc.
