Red Beans & Rice, a Monterey Bay based blues band, specializes in up-tempo danceable blues. Formed in 1993, their blend of Chicago, Texas swing, Louisiana, contemporary and original music has garnered them numerous awards. Performing throughout the West Coast at various Festivals and venues, Red Beans & Rice has shared the stage with some of the greats in blues and has released four self produced albums containing their unique original compositions as well as some covers of lesser known classics. Homework, released in 2002, was recorded at a local studio in the Monterey Bay area. Once again the band was recorded basically live to multitrack in one day. Although additional parts were recorded later, the recording retains it's intimate and rootsy feel. Featuring 6 new original compositions, the 13 selections here are very much in the Louisiana Blues and R&B tradition. Red Beans & Rice has played at many major festivals throughout California.
