Product Description This is an eclectic collection of acoustic 6 and 12 string guitar pieces, played by virtuoso Catherine Altamura, who wrote and arranged most of the pieces. It is one of the only recordings ever made of classical guitar repetoir played on a 12 stringed instrument, and recorded with a world class orchestra. Catherine was born in Berkeley, California, and began playing the guitar at age 5. She studied extensively with various artists in the San Francisco Bay area for several years, and then attended the San Francisco Conserveratory of Music where she studied with George Sakellariou and Larry Ferrara. She has performed in several Master Classes with Christopher Parkening. When Catherine was a young adult, she began composing her own pieces, and writing arrangements of historical and contemporary Christian pieces for the guitar. With a growing passion for this music, she began combining her advanced classical technique with the depth of Christian literature, and practicing it on the 12 string guitar. She later had a 12 string guitar made for her, so that she could use her classical technique and play cleanly and accurately. In 2005, Catherine had the opportunity to record a collection of her pieces both with solo guitar, and with the Skywalker Chamber Orchestra. Luminaria is the first recording of it's kind.
