Review If the day is ever overcast, and if you are ever trying to recover from having a cold, and if it is ever 10:32 in the morning and you haven't yet brushed your teeth, but have already downed a cup of coffee, and if you ever like to lay in bed for far too long, and if you ever are either mending a broken heart, or are the happiest you've ever been in your life -- might I suggest Andy Kong's record "This Beautiful World"? What I mean is that this record can and should be played at any time, at all. Kong does walk that all-too familiar line of John Mayer + Jason Mraz, but if you close your eyes with this record playing in the background, you would be in 1995. What sets Kong apart from his more famous colleagues is his sort of timeless in the way that he transports you. Not necessarily to happier times because there are melancholy-sounding tracks, but transportation occurs nonetheless. And you are grateful and you bow your heads to the magical music elves in a silent prayer. "If a song could set you free", indeed. --Teresa Finney
