About the Artist While a Senior at Berkeley High School, Gretchen Lieberum entered the Reno International Jazz Festival and Competition, and won first place in the Jazz Vocal Solo Category. She began writing songs while singing for a funk band she started in college with bassist Mike Cruz called Supersauce, playing at venues such as the Filmore in San Francisco and The Catalyst in Santa Cruz. Several years later, she started jamming and writing songs with piano man Jacob Aginsky, eventually creating the music that became Gretchen's debut solo CD, Three AM. Three AM, completed in March of 1999, was produced by Greg Poree, who has worked as a musician and as a producer with artists such as Cassandra Wilson, Sting, Vinx, and Stevie Wonder. Gretchen recently made her first music video for the single "These Things", directed by Jacob Estes and Danny Passman. Product Description Acoustic bass, piano, acoustic guitar, percussion, drums, Rhodes, D.J., cello, trumpet and vocals combine to form the Jazz and Acid Jazz inspired original music of Three AM. Vocalist/Lyricist Gretchen Lieberum lists such diverse artists as Joni Mitchell, Nina Simone, Sting, Spearhead, and Cassandra Wilson as influences.
